Some 25 key stakeholders from the ‘Accountancy and Auditing’ subsector, including industry representatives, education and training providers and relevant institutions, have been invited to participate in the discussions.

The organisation of the Skills Interface follows the recommendations of the HRDC Sectoral Committee on the Financial Services sector, which highlighted skills shortages for the sector. The Accountancy and Auditing subsector has been identified as an area requiring particular attention, given the difficulties in attracting new entrants and the need to ensure that the skills available in the labour market remain aligned with industry requirements.

The interface will be conducted in an interactive roundtable format to encourage open dialogue, knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that discussions remain focused on the specific skills issues and workforce requirements of the subsector.

The expected outcomes of the Skills Interface include a shared understanding of the present skills level, current and emerging skills needs, and workforce gaps within the Accountancy and Auditing subsector, as well as identification of measures to encourage and attract new entrants. The discussions will also seek to strengthen industry–academia–training collaboration, facilitate the identification of short- and medium-term training opportunities and inform the development of future skills development initiatives.
