Placement of Rodriguan Entrepreneurs for training in SMEs in Mauritius

Further to the setting up of its office in Rodrigues, the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) is stepping up efforts to promote the development of the Rodriguan workforce. In parallel the Rodrigues Regional Assembly (RRA) has launched a series of activities aimed at promoting the setting-up and growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In addition to these ongoing activities a felt-need has been expressed by the RRA through the Deputy Chief Commissioner’s Office/Commission for the training of Rodriguan SMEs.

Thus, in view of fostering sustainable growth of the SMEs, HRDC in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Chief Commissioner organised a training programme for the placement of 25 Rodriguan entrepreneurs in Mauritius for a maximum period of four weeks. The objective was to ensure that these entrepreneurs benefit from exposure and practical training and to give them the necessary guidance to support entrepreneurial activity in Rodrigues.

The HRDC has already earmarked a budget for HRD projects to be implemented in Rodrigues for the period 2012-2013.
