Organisation's Profile

The Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) was set up as a corporate body in November 2003 as per the HRD Act 2003. The setting up of the HRDC was inspired by recommendations of a report on National Integrated Training Strategy, prepared by an International Labour Organisation (ILO) consultant, whereby the need for an apex body that would guide and provide the necessary thrust for human resource development in Mauritius was felt.

The Human Resource Development Council is governed by a diverse council that brings together expertise from key government ministries, economic sectors, and human resource development specialists. Led by Chairperson Mr. Bhooyasheel Akshay Seedoyal, the council comprises ten members representing critical stakeholders in Mauritius's workforce development landscape.

The Human Resource Development Council comprises three main departments, namely the Research & Projects Division; the Finance Division; and the Corporate Division.

There are six main Sectoral Committees at the HRDC that look after human resource development issues in key sectors of the economy.
